I love your blog and read it regularly, even though I've never commented before. But this is just too much -- back to the swamp with this one! Rrrib-bit!

How about option three (since I would never call your work drek): life's too short to knit things you don't adore. Go treat yourself to some Opal, love.

rrrip-it. personally, i'd use the yarn for a pair of mittens. or maybe toe-up socks. or maybe (just maybe) a beanie. ;)

I have seen the sock in question. Even a clown with cold feet wouldn't wear it

Ouch. I can see why you hate it. The ball of yarn looks cute, though. As Karen said, try something of a different size or shape and see if it clears up that pooling problem. If not, you could (in the grand tradition of knit bloggers) use it as the prize in a contest.

OMG!! Frog the hell out of that thing! (I do have to say, though, lovely knitting...) ;)

I

always

say that if you're not enjoying knitting something, rip it out. That yarn would make a LOVELY hat for your little Maria!

I say stop knitting immediatly. Put the needles down and back away slowly. I think that thing is affront to brightly colored socks everywhere. (But I bet if you mailed it as is to tejaz you could probably win one of those coveted orange pants awards.)

Screw it! If I've learned one thing due to my advanced years, it's that life is too short to spend it doing something you really don't have/need/are obligated to do if you don't enjoy it.

The pooling of colors, not the colors themselves is the problem.. . The pattern is great if only the whole sock had that mix of color spacing that the heel does. Is it Kroy yarn? Could you alternate skeins on different rows to get rid of the puddles of yellow in blue effect? Rip that sock out unless you just want to get done with it regardless of the look.

why bother wasting time frogging it if the yarn is crap i say start a nice little bonfire with it (ps. i know why jazz wants it)

1. I would LOVE to own this sock and its future partner- some of nature's most wonderul events happen by chance. I'd want them - I'd nuture them and pet them and love them like little colorfull pets !

Like we do here in the south in order to get our man voted in - I am voting early and voting Often And my hanging chad says SAVE MARTHA- I mean SAVE THE SOCKS!

Cheryl - 2004-03-11 18:35:41
What is the pattern, BTW? I can see how it would look good with Opal, but it really eats up those one-row stripes.

max - 2004-03-11 19:02:04
I like the sock. It is rather, er, unusual. Not unlike yourself i suspect. I vote to finish it.
-------------------------------
Tallguy - 2004-03-11 23:41:47
Yes, I agree, you need to stop it now. Since you are not enjoying doing it, don't continue. I have only frogged one sock, but there was no choice -- there was a mistake! These colours are all wrong -- use it for something else. Pattern is excellent; not these colours!

sean - 2004-03-12 06:22:45
What is the pattern?? Maybe I can convert it into a hat pattern for you.
-------------------------------
John - 2004-03-13 13:29:53
I say continue. You came this far. They're just socks so it won't take much longer to finish. They are the type of socks you'll be glad to have on your feet while lounging around the house and you won't care if your dog gets ahold of one of them and starts playing tug. It's all good.

I'd keep it for posterity and make sure I keep a tag with the yarn name on it so you don't buy it again.
