Random Thought Wednesday

It is snowing really hard right now. I can declare that its pretty because Im home and dont have to go outside anymore. And thats a good thing because the Miata performs like a bobsled in the snow.

Sad news: My sisters beautiful Bernese Mountain dog, Sabrina, is dying. She has an inoperable tumor behind her eye. The vet suggested that she might benefit from radiation, but that would involve being away from her family for 3months and living in a cage at the veterinary college. Sabrina is such a family dog and such a love sponge that the separation from her family would kill her quicker than the tumor.

And while you are offering up a prayer for Sabrina, say one for Scott. Scott is Rays best friend of 10 years and Marias Godfather. They used to share an office before Ray moved into the pulmonology department. Poor Scott is recovering from a serious abdominal surgery. We love Scott around here and wish him a speedy recovery.

Becky and Bailey quit their jobs at the bagel store and have gained employment at Bob Evans restaurant. Its this family restaurant that attracts a lot of senior citizens. Ive never actually eaten there, but I have been quizzing them all week over the menu. The waitstaff is expected to know the script backwards and forwards. The most expensive thing on the menu is the pork chop dinner grilled to perfection with a drizzle of mild garlic butter. Served with two savory sides. which could be cottage cheese and applesauce, neither of which meet my standards for the use of the word savory Wish them luck and let them warm up your coffee.

Looks like Rumsfeld and Rice have finally listened to my plan for stopping the war with Iraq. Its good old fashioned bribery. Dont laugh. Its cost effective, no one gets hurt and it embraces the best principals of capitalism. Offer Saddam a whole lot of money to leave Iraq and go into exile. Offer him a condo in Maui. Offer him a Bentley and a driver. Offer him his 20 virgins in this lifetime, not the next. Everybody has their price and whatever his is, its got to be less than the price of one of those B-2 stealth bombers. They are something like $1.1 billion dollars. The behaviorist in me says that we dont reward negative behavior but real life is about compromise. Id rather see Saddam swinging in a hammock on the beach than the body count on the nightly news.
