Nutmeg is so Educational

Kids, at least they are consistent.

Christmas dinner at my sisters house: Sometime after the discussion about Lacy dancing in the girly show.

My nephew, Harrison, 19months old has gotten EVERYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE for Christmas. Santa brought him so much stuff that he actually got bored opening packages Christmas morning, rebelled and said no more One of his more pricey gifts was The Leap Frog Learning system an educational toy that is supposed to be fun and can grow along with the child. My sister, the speech pathologist, is pro educational toys. She never would let my other nephew, Benjamin, have any guns or weapon toys. Whenever I came over, Ben would shoot me dead with a flashlight or a yard stick

Betsy serves up eggnog to the family to divert attention from Lacys girly show revelations and sprinkles the top with nutmeg from an old McCormick spice tin. She wants to show me, a psychologist and Ray, a pediatrician, all about the wonderful Leapfrog learning system.

Harry grabs the nutmeg tin. He puts it in his mouth. He shows it to the dog. He bangs it against the wall. Betsy is inserting software into the Leapfrog thing and showing us the whistles and bells. It looks complicated.

Harry runs the nutmeg tin across the floor making car noises. Ben and Harry play catch with the nutmeg. Ben and Harry play hide and sneak with the nutmeg. Harry hides the nutmeg in his diaper and we all are amazed and applaude when he pulls it out again

Betsy is excited because Harry is going to get so much from the Leapfrog system.

Harry and Ben wrestle with the tin of nutmeg
